Ras Al Khaimah Free Trade zone provides the possibility to obtain commercial as well as professional licenses.
RAK FTZ Industrial License
Allowed company activities:
- Import of raw materials required for production;
- Production / manufacturing or processing (food processing, etc.),
- Assembling / fine-tuning, labelling, packaging, and exporting finished goods and product.
RAK FTZ Commercial License
Permitted activities for this license:
- Import, export, distribution of goods,
- Production, consolidation and re-consolidation,
- Keeping on storage / warehouse of merchandises and items outlined in the License. Maximum limited number of items in one License is seven similar items / product lines or two products from diverse lines.
RAK FTZ Consulting and Service License
Company with such license is permitted to do the following activities: provision of consulting services in different areas – management consultancy, business consulting, labour issues (headhunting, labour law, etc.), business development, feasibility studies. It can also include consulting in other areas such as, for example, support in logistics, cargo, accounting etc. Two types of different consulting activities can be included in one license.
RAK FTZ Commercial - General Trading License
This is the type of the license which is more cost-intensive than the regular trading license. The General Trading License falls under Commercial License type and allows to trade with more than seven lines of product.
Important note on licenses requirement and regulations – the licenses are necessary for RAK Free Trade Zone onshore companies.
Other type of companies - UAE Free Zone offshore companies - do not require the licenses. These companies practically do not have and restrictions on activities (except of banking and insurance) and the activities of such offshore companies can include a number of different business activities within one company.
How to apply for license?
Majority of the licenses are received with minor or no special additional requirements from company shareholders and directors. Regular requirement is the availability of high education by the company director. In the event the company falls under specially regulated licenses we also provide full support on the procedure and acquiring the license.
