Offshore company is a company that can perform any business, but only outside the UAE. This type of companies has registration address in the UAE, provided by the registered agent, but such company may not lease real office on its own name - irrespective of the type of premises - office or, for example, warehouse.
All communications and correspondence received to the address of the registered agent, may be sent to your address by the agent.
Restrictions related to lease of real office by offshore company is one of the reasons why such company is not issued the tax residency certificate. For obtainment of such certificate the company shall have an office in Dubai, whereas the offshore is not entitled to have such office by definition.
On the other hand, the restrictions related real office in Dubai, significantly reduces the costs of offshore. If a company is incorporated in the UAE as an onshore, the availability of office is not only permitted, but it is also compulsory, and for the reasons mentioned above the costs of an onshore company is several times higher then offshore one.
